On March 20, 2025, Telangana, India, announced a significant boost to its renewable energy sector with a budget allocation of ₹21,221 crore, a 30% increase from the previous year. This investment aims to support the state's goal of adding 20,000 MW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. Key initiatives include:
₹1,000 crore for green energy promotion.
₹1,500 crore for 100% solarization of villages, starting with pilot projects in Kondareddypalli and Siripuram.
Plans to establish a 250 MW/500 MHz battery energy storage system near Shankarpally.
Joint efforts by Singareni Collieries Company Ltd and Telangana Renewable Energy Development Corporation to explore geothermal power generation.
The budget also allocates ₹11,500 crore for subsidies, including free power to agricultural pump sets and other social sectors. Two units of the Yadadri Thermal power station (5x800 MW) are already operational and expected to be fully functional by May-end.
