German Startup Theion Secures €15 Million to Accelerate Production of High-Density Sulfur Batteries for EVs and Energy Storage

Edited by: an_lymons vilart

German startup Theion has secured €15 million ($16.4 million) in Series A funding to boost the production of its sulfur battery technology. Theion's batteries offer three times the energy density of standard lithium-ion batteries, with reduced costs and pollution. The funding, led by Team Global and supported by investors including Geschwister Oetker Beteiligungen and Enpal, will facilitate the transition from coin cells to large-scale pouch cells for electric vehicles (EVs) and potentially flying taxis. Theion aims to integrate these batteries into EVs within the decade, addressing corrosion challenges through advanced materials.
