ISG Report: European Utilities Modernizing Grids with AI to Integrate Renewables and Enhance Energy Security Amidst Russia-Ukraine War

According to a recent ISG report, European utilities are rapidly modernizing their electrical grids using AI-driven software to integrate renewable energy sources and improve energy security. This transformation is driven by the Russia-Ukraine war, which has disrupted gas supplies and accelerated the need for diversified energy sources. Utilities are investing in platforms for orchestration and connectivity to manage intermittent power from solar and wind, hydrogen power, and storage technologies like batteries and pumped-storage hydroelectricity. Asset management software, enhanced with AI, is also being deployed to increase asset performance and extend their lifespan while cutting operating costs. ISG projects that most utilities worldwide will modernize asset management systems by 2027 to ensure reliable power delivery.
