Nigeria's NEV Motors Launches Locally-Built Electric Buses and Charging Stations, Aiming to Lead in Affordable Electric Mobility

Nigeria's New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) has launched a line of locally built electric buses, charging stations, and premium taxi services in Abuja. NEV Motors CEO, Mosope Olaosebikan, positions the company as a leader in clean, affordable electric mobility. Electric vehicles can now be imported with minimal taxes. The NEVT6 Bus demonstrates what happens when passion meets purpose. The Minister of State for Industry, Trade, and Investment, John Enoh, said the initiative marks a significant milestone in industrialisation and environmental cleanliness. The government aims to increase local content in manufactured vehicles by 40%, produce one million vehicles locally, create 200,000 jobs, and achieve 30% local electric vehicle production. Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, highlighted Nigeria's lithium reserves for EV batteries and the deployment of solar mini-grids to address power concerns.
