Mercedes-Benz Revamps EV Strategy, Unveils Solid-State Battery Tech with 620-Mile Range, Set for 2030 Debut

Mercedes-Benz is adjusting its EV strategy due to changing customer preferences, moving away from the 'EQ' designation for new electric models. Future EVs will be named with 'EQ Technology.' The automaker is also developing gas engines and hybrids. In collaboration with Factorial Energy, Mercedes-Benz and Mercedes AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP) have developed a solid-state battery expected to deliver over 620 miles on a single charge. Road testing is underway, with production models anticipated by 2030. The new battery technology offers a 25% range increase compared to lithium-ion batteries.
