New York/USA - On October 10, 2024, Plug Power signed a binding agreement with Allied Green Ammonia (AGA) to provide 3 gigawatts (GW) of electrolyzer capacity for AGA's green hydrogen to ammonia plant in Australia. This partnership aims to establish one of the world's largest green ammonia production facilities, with an expected production capacity of approximately 2,700 metric tons per day (TPD).
Located at Gove Peninsula in the Northern Territory, the facility will utilize abundant renewable energy resources to decarbonize ammonia production by replacing conventional Steam Methane Reforming (SMR) techniques with green hydrogen generated through Plug's advanced electrolyzers.
Plug Power's electrolyzer system is scheduled for delivery by the end of 2026 or early 2027, marking a significant advancement in sustainable energy production. The collaboration is expected to cater to the increasing demand for green ammonia in Asia and Europe, supporting the global transition to net-zero emissions.
