United Airlines launches free starlink wifi on flights

Edited by: Veronika Nazarova

United Airlines has begun offering free Starlink satellite internet on select flights. Initially, the service is available on flights between Chicago and Detroit. This marks a significant step in enhancing in-flight connectivity for passengers. The airline conducted a test flight before launching the service. The test flight used an Embraer E-175 aircraft. United Airlines plans to expand Starlink to its entire fleet of 1,026 aircraft. Starlink's superior performance is attributed to its vast network of low Earth orbit satellites. Currently, SpaceX has launched over 7,000 satellites. Passengers are advised against voice/video calls and offensive content during flights. The airline intends to keep the service free, at least initially.
