A new report from Thales' Imperva reveals that automated bot traffic has surpassed human traffic for the first time in a decade, accounting for 51% of all web activity. The rise of accessible AI tools is a major factor, enabling less sophisticated cyber attackers to create and deploy malicious bots at scale. These AI-driven bots are increasingly targeting APIs, particularly in the financial services, healthcare, and e-commerce sectors, leading to a surge in account takeover attacks and data exfiltration. The travel industry is the most attacked sector, with 27% of all bot attacks.
