Elon Musk Announces Free Starlink Access for Select Smartphones Starting July 2025, Bridging the Digital Divide Globally

Edited by: Veronika Nazarova

Elon Musk has announced that select smartphone models will gain free access to Starlink's satellite internet starting July 2025. This initiative aims to bridge the digital divide by providing connectivity in rural, remote, and underserved areas, allowing users to send texts, share locations, and contact emergency services without relying on traditional mobile networks. Initially, only texting, location sharing, and emergency contacts will be supported, with voice calls and internet browsing planned for a later phase. Users will need compatible devices with the latest software updates to connect when outside traditional mobile network coverage. The connection will be indicated by "T-Mobile SpaceX" appearing on the screen.
