Digg Relaunches with AI to Challenge Reddit: Social Link-Sharing Site Aims to Modernize Content Moderation with Reddit Co-founder's Backing

Edited by: Veronika Nazarova

Digg, the social link-sharing site, is making a comeback with Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian backing the project. Kevin Rose, who originally launched Digg in 2004, is partnering with Ohanian to revive the platform with AI-powered content moderation, a feature Reddit has yet to fully adopt.

The revamped Digg aims to modernize the user experience, focusing on mobile accessibility and advanced spam filtering. Digg intends to use AI to manage content, allowing human moderators to focus on community building. Justin Mezzell, formerly of Code School and RevenueCat, will serve as CEO.

Over 175,000 users have already signed up for early access. The relaunch is designed to address the issues that led to Digg's decline in the past, such as ineffective content moderation, by leveraging AI to create a more user-friendly and engaging environment.

Digg's return marks a significant development in the social media landscape, potentially offering a new alternative to Reddit.
