Windows 11 Enhances Wi-Fi Connectivity

Edited by: Veronika Nazarova

Windows 11 introduces improved Wi-Fi connectivity features, enabling users to effortlessly connect to wireless networks across various locations. This update allows access to the internet, connected devices, and easy sharing of internet connections with other PCs.

Upon setting up a new Windows 11 PC, users are prompted to connect to a Wi-Fi network, ensuring they are online from the start. For those utilizing laptops in multiple environments, connecting to different Wi-Fi networks becomes essential.

To find and connect to a Wi-Fi network, users can access Quick Settings by clicking the Network, Sound, or Battery icons in the Taskbar or by pressing WINKEY + A. If Wi-Fi is enabled, the Wi-Fi quick settings button will indicate available networks.

Private networks require a password, while public networks often necessitate authentication via a webpage post-connection. Users can select a network, opt for automatic connection on trusted networks, and enter passwords where necessary. Once connected, the notification area icon will reflect the network's strength.

Windows 11 defaults to a public network profile, enhancing device security by preventing discovery by unauthorized users. This configuration is particularly beneficial in public settings, ensuring user safety while accessing the internet.
