Vietnam's Military Industry and Telecoms Group (Viettel) has officially launched its commercial 5G services, becoming the first mobile network provider in the country to offer nationwide coverage. This significant development promises to enhance internet connectivity for millions of users across Vietnam.
The newly deployed 5G network boasts impressive speeds, with average user experiences reported between 300Mbps and 400Mbps. Theoretically, the network can achieve speeds up to 10Gbps, making it ten times faster than the previous 4G standard.
Viettel offers a variety of pricing plans, starting from VND135,000 (about $5.4) per month for 4GB daily, to a premium plan providing 50GB daily for VND2 million ($80). This flexibility caters to diverse user needs, whether for casual browsing or high-demand applications like online gaming and video streaming.
In addition to Viettel, VinaPhone is also rolling out 5G services, currently offering free trials to users in covered areas. This initiative aims to familiarize customers with the new technology before its full-scale implementation.
5G technology is set to revolutionize various sectors in Vietnam, enabling smart cars, AI-driven features, and enhanced online experiences. Experts believe that as 5G stabilizes, it will unlock numerous applications, particularly in the automotive industry, where connectivity is crucial for navigation and autonomous driving.
