In Poznań, Poland, the Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center (PCSS) has launched PIAST-Q, a quantum computer based on trapped ion technology.
This is the first of its kind in Poland, designed to support research in quantum optimization, quantum chemistry, materials research, and machine learning.
The project, co-financed by the Ministry of Digitalization, aims to solve complex computational problems, potentially leading to breakthroughs in medicine, cryptography, finance, and artificial intelligence.
PIAST-Q is integrated with a classical supercomputer system, allowing remote access via the PIONIER scientific network.
The total investment cost is 12.28 million euros, with funding from EuroHPC JU and the Ministry of Digitalization. Poland is becoming a leader in quantum technology development in Europe.
