Tesla Robotaxi Service Tentatively Launches in Austin, Texas

Edited by: Tetiana Pinchuk Pinchuk

Tesla is "tentatively" scheduled to launch its robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, on June 22.

Elon Musk announced the launch on his X social media platform, noting the date could change due to safety concerns.

The service will initially be remotely monitored and "geofenced" to safe areas.

Musk plans to start with approximately 10 taxis and expand to other cities, including Los Angeles, San Antonio, and San Francisco.

This launch follows a decade of promises for fully autonomous vehicles, amid increased competition and other challenges for Tesla.

The rollout also comes after a public disagreement between Musk and Donald Trump, raising potential concerns about regulatory scrutiny.
