BYD Calls for Alliance with Tesla to Combat Combustion Engine Cars

BYD proposes an alliance with Tesla to accelerate the transition from combustion engines to electric vehicles. BYD's executive vice president, Stella Li, stated that their "common enemy is the internal combustion engine car" and urged collaboration to transform the automotive sector. This proposal comes amid BYD's expansion in Europe and its competition with Tesla for the top spot in EV manufacturing. BYD is willing to share EV and autonomous driving technologies. Despite trade tensions, BYD has no plans to introduce EVs to the U.S. and has raised $5.6 billion for European expansion, where its EV market share is currently around 2%.
