AI was entrusted with fighting noise in a $500 ice machine. The great artificial intelligence has finally been given a task worthy of civilization: to make ice cubes and not rattle.
At the exhibition CES 2026 they presented an ice maker costing nearly 500 dollars, in which artificial intelligence is responsible for silence.
The technology AI NoiseGuard monitors the device's operation and, if it detects the approach of a particularly loud "hrr-r-r-clack," starts defrosting in advance. As a result, the machine makes soft pellet ice, but tries not to announce it to the whole house.
It produces the first batch in about six minutes, and in a day it can make up to 27 kilograms of ice. An excellent solution in case 200 guests suddenly show up β and each one demands a drink with ice.
For decades, humanity dreamed that AI would explore space, cure diseases and unlock the secrets of the Universe. But the technology chose a more practical path: it stands in the kitchen, makes ice cubes and tries not to rattle at night.
The next version will probably learn to close the refrigerator quietly and explain who left an empty box inside again. π
