Alibaba has launched Qwen3, a new family of open-source AI models designed to compete with industry leaders. The announcement highlights the rapid pace of technological innovation in China.
Qwen3 includes eight models, ranging from 0.6 to 32 billion parameters, with the flagship model having 235 billion parameters. These models support 119 languages and are trained on 36 trillion tokens, making them suitable for various applications, including coding and IoT.
According to Alibaba, Qwen3 rivals models from OpenAI and Google. The models are available on platforms like Hugging Face, GitHub, and ModelScope under the Apache 2.0 license, with many offered for free for non-commercial use.
