Bengaluru-based AI startup Sarvam has been chosen by the Indian government to develop the country's first indigenous large language model (LLM). This initiative falls under the Rs 10,370-crore IndiaAI Mission. Sarvam will receive access to 4,096 high-end Nvidia H100 GPUs for six months. The government aims to foster strategic autonomy and leadership in the global AI landscape. The model, boasting 70 billion parameters, will be trained and deployed within India. Sarvam plans to create models tailored for India's linguistic and operational needs, including advanced reasoning and real-time applications.
