OpenAI's o1-Pro AI Model: Premium Reasoning at a Premium Price

OpenAI has launched its most expensive AI model to date, the o1-Pro, priced at $150 per million input tokens or $600 per million output tokens. This reasoning model, available to developers spending at least $5 on OpenAI's API, is reportedly 10 times more expensive than the o1 model and twice the cost of GPT-4.5. While boasting enhanced reasoning capabilities and more consistent responses due to increased computational demands, early user reports and internal benchmarks suggest only marginal improvements in coding and math problem-solving compared to the standard o1 model. The o1-Pro, already available to ChatGPT Pro users since December 2024, features a 200,000 token context window, 100,000 output tokens, knowledge up to September 30, 2023, image input support, and function calling.
