Perplexity AI to Launch AI-Powered Browser 'Comet' for Search Agents

Perplexity AI, known for its AI-powered search engine, announced plans to develop an AI-based browser named 'Comet' to support the growing use of search agents. These AI agents, also known as AI Agentic, autonomously make decisions and adapt to changing situations with minimal human intervention. The company has launched a sign-up list for the browser, which is currently under development. This move follows Perplexity's recent release of Deep Research, an in-depth research tool that uses reasoning to synthesize online information and complete complex research tasks, similar to tools released by Google and OpenAI. Deep Research generates detailed reports with citations, performing numerous searches and analyzing hundreds of sources to provide comprehensive answers to user queries.
