Málaga, Spain - Valencia and Ermua have been awarded at the Greencities & S-Moving forum for their innovative smart city initiatives. The first edition of the 'Smart City Awards' aimed to highlight municipal projects enhancing urban intelligence.
Ermua won in the category for municipalities with 5,000 to 50,000 inhabitants with its 'drOp' project, which aims to transform social housing districts into smart, inclusive neighborhoods. Valencia received the award for municipalities over 50,000 for its digital transformation efforts.
Madrid and Murcia were also finalists, recognized for their digital strategies and traffic management initiatives. Additionally, Mothium won the 'Open Call for Start-ups' for its focus on urban mobility with advanced electric vehicles.
The forum attracted 2,500 professionals, 200 companies, and 140 experts, showcasing innovations in urban equipment and fostering collaboration among public administrations.
