The London Marathon has etched its name in history, achieving a new milestone alongside Assefa's world record. The event now holds the record for the highest number of finishers ever recorded in a marathon. A total of 56,640 runners crossed the finish line, surpassing the previous record of 55,646 set in New York in 2024.

During the marathon, there were 87 official Guinness World Record attempts. Impressively, 41 of these attempts were successfully broken. This edition also marked a record for popularity, with 840,318 individuals registering in the public ballot to participate.

The London Marathon continues its legacy as the world's largest single-day fundraising event. Since its inception in 1981, it has raised over £1.3 billion for charitable causes. In 2020, during the pandemic, it established another record for the most runners in a remote marathon over 24 hours, with nearly 38,000 participants.
