Guinness World Record holder and open water swimmer Alberto Lorente has launched a swimming tour along the Spanish coast called "Abracemos el mar" (Let's Embrace the Sea). This initiative combines sports, environmental awareness, and social action to highlight the importance of marine conservation.
Lorente will swim in stages around Spain, promoting marine conservation in various coastal cities. The project started on April 22, 2025, in Bilbao and will end on May 10, 2025, in Salou. Environmentalist Enrique Herrero, also known as 'Quique Bolsitas', is also participating, emphasizing the need to protect our oceans. The initiative aims to engage communities and highlight the significance of preserving marine ecosystems through activities like beach cleanups.
Lorente is known for his solidarity challenges. He has two Guinness World Records: one for the longest swim blindfolded and the second for the longest swim against the current. He uses his challenges to raise funds for various causes. Herrero has collected over 156 tons of waste with more than 15,000 volunteers since he began his work seven years ago.
