Basketball Ireland Orders Replay of UCC Demons vs. Neptune Quarter-Final Due to Scoring Error

The National League Committee (NLC) has mandated a replay of the Men's Super League play-off quarter-final between UCC Demons and Energywise Ireland Neptune. This decision stems from a scoring error committed by a game official during the first quarter of last Sunday's match at Mardyke Arena. The error involved a two-point basket by Neptune's Tamyrik Fields, which was incorrectly credited to UCC Demons' Scott Hannigan. While officials corrected the allocation at halftime, awarding the points to Neptune, they failed to deduct the erroneously assigned points from UCC Demons' score. Basketball Ireland acknowledged the human error, stating that the replay is in the interest of fairness and the integrity of the competition. The replayed quarter-final will take place at UCC Demons' home venue this weekend, with the victor advancing to face Garvey's Tralee Warriors in the Super League play-off semi-finals.
