Cornhole, a popular game in the United States, has recently arrived in Auray, France. Laura le Falher has established Cornhole Breizh 56, the first club of its kind in the Morbihan department. This game of skill, while relatively unknown in Europe, boasts a long history with roots potentially dating back to the Middle Ages.
The modern version of cornhole, originating from the United States, is believed to have originated in 14th-century Germany. A German cabinetmaker named Mathias Kuepermann is credited with creating the first game set. He designed a board with a hole and bags filled with corn for his children to toss, replacing the dangerous practice of throwing stones into a hole.
While resin beads have replaced corn kernels, the core principle of the game remains unchanged. Cornhole is characterized by its social atmosphere.
