Ander Mintegui has secured a significant victory at the 2025 Winter Universiade in Turin, Italy, by dominating the men's Super-G event from start to finish. Representing the Real Federación Española de Deportes de Invierno (RFEDI), Mintegui's impressive performance earned him the gold medal, marking Spain's fifth medal in this edition of the Universiade.
Mintegui, competing with the number one bib, took full advantage of the optimal track conditions. He recorded the fastest intermediate time of 32.35 seconds in the first segment and maintained his momentum to finish with an overall time of 57.55 seconds. His closest competitors, Emil Nyberg from Sweden and Jonas Skabar from France, finished with times of +0.14 and +0.38 seconds behind, respectively.
Reflecting on his achievement, Mintegui expressed his joy, stating that this victory is a step towards his ultimate goal of competing in the World Cup. He noted the excellent snow conditions during the event, which allowed him to perform at his best.
The technical director of alpine skiing, Ángel Calero, emphasized the importance of Mintegui's triumph, acknowledging the challenges of competing with the leading bib while lacking prior information about the track.
