Deezer's AI Music Detection and Industry Response

Edited by: Inna Horoshkina One

Deezer, a music streaming service, has launched an AI tagging system to identify AI-generated tracks. This move addresses the growing presence of AI-created music on its platform, which accounts for approximately 18% of daily uploads.

The rise of AI-generated music has prompted concerns about potential fraud. Deezer's AI detection tool found that up to 70% of streams from fully AI-generated tracks are fraudulent. Consequently, these tracks are excluded from algorithmic recommendations and fraudulent streams are filtered from royalty payments.

Deezer has also joined the global statement on AI training, highlighting the importance of protecting artists' rights. The music industry is actively seeking responsible AI integration to safeguard creators and maintain the integrity of the music ecosystem.
