Soundgarden, the Seattle grunge legends formed in 1984, are set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2025 [2, 4]. The induction ceremony will be held on November 8, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles [3, 5]. The surviving members, Kim Thayil, Matt Cameron, and Ben Shepherd, along with late vocalist Chris Cornell and former bassist Hiro Yamamoto, will be inducted [2, 5].
Kim Thayil expressed that the induction wasn't a personal goal but acknowledged its significance for the band's crew, label, management, and fans [4, 6]. He recalled a conversation with Chris Cornell, who inducted Heart in 2013, about the enthusiasm and validation the induction brought to fans [4, 6].
Guest Vocalists and Unreleased Music
The band is considering performing at the induction ceremony with guest vocalists to honor Chris Cornell, who passed away in 2017 [6, 13]. Thayil emphasized the need for reverence for Cornell and the band's legacy when choosing a vocalist [6, 15]. Soundgarden also aims to complete and release their final record with Cornell, which has been delayed due to legal issues with Cornell's estate [15, 17]. While a settlement was reached in 2023, the release remains uncertain [15, 17].
