Kate Heneghan and Frankie Gavin Celebrate 50 Years of Irish-UAE Relations Through Music in Dubai

Mayo musician Kate Heneghan performed with traditional Irish music icon Frankie Gavin at a gala concert in Dubai. The event celebrated 50 years of diplomatic ties between Ireland and the United Arab Emirates. It took place at the Jumeirah Emirates Towers Hotel and was attended by government officials, diplomats, and business leaders.

Heneghan emphasized the strong bond between the UAE and Ireland, highlighting the harp's cultural significance as Ireland's national symbol. She began with a solo set, later accompanied by her partner, Seán Gavin, for performances of Caledonia, Grace, and Black Is the Colour.

Frankie Gavin and Dé Dannan, the traditional Irish music group Gavin founded in 1975, joined them towards the end of the set. Heneghan expressed the significance of performing with Gavin, acknowledging her lifelong appreciation for his music. The performance concluded with 'My Lovely Rose of Clare,' dedicated to Alison Milton, the Ambassador of Ireland to the UAE.
