Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg's "Deep Cover": Celebrating a Hip-Hop Landmark's Anniversary

Edited by: Aurelia One

On April 9, 1992, Dr. Dre launched his solo career with the release of "Deep Cover," the title track from the film of the same name. This marked the introduction of Snoop Dogg to a wider audience. Following his departure from N.W.A., Dr. Dre was commissioned to create music for the "Deep Cover" movie soundtrack. He collaborated with Snoop Dogg, a connection facilitated by Dre's younger brother, Warren G. "Deep Cover" achieved considerable success and is now recognized as a significant hip-hop track. Its impact led to a remix featuring Fat Joe and Big Pun in 1998, further cementing its place in music history as "Twinz (Deep Cover '98)". The song also marked Snoop Dogg's first appearance on a record, launching his career.
