Alex Warren's single, "Ordinary," has ascended to the number one position on the UK's Official Singles Chart. The 24-year-old TikTok star supplanted Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club," which previously held the top spot. The Latin Recording Academy has announced significant updates to its eligibility guidelines for the 26th annual Latin Grammy Awards, including the addition of a new field for visual media and the introduction of two new categories: Best Music for Visual Media and Best Roots Song. The former will recognize original music created for movies, television series, and video games that incorporate Latin rhythms or are composed by individuals of Ibero-American heritage. The latter will honor songwriters of new, unpublished recordings reflecting the traditions and roots of Hispanic American communities.
Further amendments include renaming categories such as "Best Pop Vocal Album" to "Best Contemporary Pop Album" and adjusting criteria for the "Best Urban/Urban Fusion Performance" category, now requiring 60% urban elements. The minimum song threshold for Songwriter of the Year has been reduced from six to four, and the Producer of the Year category will undergo screening by a specialized committee.
