Stephen Schwartz to Receive Mercer Award
Stephen Schwartz, inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009, will receive the prestigious Mercer Award, the organization's highest honor.
Nile Rodgers, SHOF Chairman, praised Schwartz’s gift for turning stories into Broadway masterpieces.
The award coincides with the release of the film adaptation of "Wicked", which has become the highest-grossing film based on a Broadway musical.
The film's soundtrack, featuring songs from the first act of the stage production, was released on November 22, alongside the movie's premiere.
The sequel, "Wicked: Part Two," is scheduled for release in 2025.
