A British tourist had an unforgettable adventure in the Peruvian mountains, thanks to a friendly stray dog. Known as 'El Güero Inglés' on social media, he was hiking the Santa Cruz circuit near Huaraz when he got lost.
On the second day of trekking, he aimed to reach the stunning Punta Unión pass at 15,000 feet. However, thick fog, snow, and ice made the route challenging. Just when he felt alone and unsure, a wagging-tailed dog appeared from the mist.
Trusting the dog, the tourist followed it as it skillfully navigated the terrain. To his surprise, the dog led him to a sign that pointed to his destination. They waited together in silence at the top for the rest of the group to catch up.
When the hiker reunited with his fellow trekkers, the dog stayed close by. To his amazement, another dog awaited them at the camp, and both dogs continued with the group for another 13.5 miles.
The tourist captured this incredible experience in a video shared on Instagram. In it, he humorously questioned the dog's presence, saying, 'What on earth are you doing up here?' It's a heartwarming reminder of the bond between humans and dogs, especially in unexpected places.
Locals noted that dogs in this region often accompany hikers, acting like trained guides. This unique relationship showcases the adventurous spirit of both dogs and their human companions.
