A dog's reaction to her owner's impassioned cheers while watching football has left viewers online in stitches.
Brandon Schmitt was caught standing up and raging at an Ohio State football match, a response that his dog, Maple, thought was directed at her.
Kara, Brandon's wife, filmed the 2-year-old vizsla hiding around a corner as her husband's passionate cheers filled their Colorado home. The video, shared on TikTok under @khaotically_kara on November 2, quickly went viral.
Kara, 27, shared, "I started making TikTok videos in 2021 with the goal of making people laugh. Maple, the star of the video, is a vizsla who, as you can tell, is a bit sensitive."
Brandon had never imagined that his intense support for Ohio State football would upset Maple. Known for his boisterous enthusiasm, Brandon's cheers were meant to celebrate his team. However, Maple interpreted his loud excitement as being directed at her, causing her to hide.
The video included a text overlay: "My husband is very 'passionate' about football and my dog thinks his yelling is targeted at her." The clip then showed Brandon cuddling Maple, reassuring her that his excitement was not aimed at her.
Kara explained, "In Brandon's defense, Maple is scared of her own shadow, people wearing large hats, and once, an innocent traffic cone." Despite her timid nature, Kara assured that Maple is very loved and well cared for. "Some would say that she is quite spoiled," she added.
The overwhelming response from viewers surprised Kara, who didn’t expect the video to receive more than 3.6 million views. "I am surprised at how many views this video has received," she said. "However, I am not shocked about the amount of comments Maple has gotten about her cuteness. I may be a bit biased, but I am convinced she is one of the prettiest dogs in the United States."
The viral video showcased Maple's sensitive temperament and sparked humorous reactions about Brandon's love for the sport. Kara joked, "I think he will now be wearing oven mitts to muffle his loud clapping during any sport spectating in our home."
One viewer commented, "This would make me so sad hahaha my husband would never watch football again." Another added, "The cuddles at the end made me very happy." Kara expressed gratitude for all the interactions, saying, "I appreciate everyone who has interacted with the video and followed for more silly content."
