Queen Elizabeth Denied Photo of Lilibet Meeting Over Security Concerns

Queen Elizabeth II reportedly denied Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's request to have a photographer present when she met their daughter, Lilibet, during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations in June 2022. The meeting marked Lilibet's first time meeting her great-grandmother.

The Sussexes hosted a garden party at Frogmore Cottage for Lilibet's first birthday, which coincided with the Jubilee. However, their desire to capture the Queen and Lilibet's meeting on camera was rejected.

Palace aides feared that any photos taken by the couple's photographer could be leaked to US television networks. This decision highlights the complex dynamics between the Sussexes and the Royal Family.

In his memoir, Spare, Harry described the meeting as a cherished moment. He noted the Queen's surprise at his children's behavior.

A letter from the Queen's private secretary, revealed during legal proceedings, emphasized the Queen's concern for Harry and Meghan's safety. It highlighted the importance of providing them with effective security, citing their public profile and history of being targeted by extremists.

Despite the lack of an official photo, the Queen's concern for her grandson's family remained a priority.
