Taylor Swift will not comply with Justin Baldoni's request to testify in his legal battle with Blake Lively. The pop star's legal team rejected the subpoena earlier this week. Baldoni subpoenaed Swift in his defamation lawsuit against Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds.
Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment on the set of their film, 'It Ends With Us.' Baldoni then filed a defamation lawsuit against Lively and Reynolds. He now seeks testimony from Swift, a close friend of the couple.
Swift's legal team at Venable LLP considers the request abusive. They stated that Venable has no connection to the film or the claims in the lawsuit. They believe the subpoena is intended to distract from the case and impose undue burden on a third party.
Baldoni's team claims Swift witnessed interactions between him and Lively. These interactions allegedly included discussions about script changes for 'It Ends With Us.' Swift was also mentioned in text messages between Baldoni and Lively.
In one message, Lively compared herself to Khaleesi from 'Game of Thrones.' She likened her husband and Swift to the character's dragons. A representative for Swift previously stated she never visited the film set and had no involvement in casting or creative decisions.
While Swift's song 'My Tears Ricochet' is featured in the film, she did not compose the score. The representative also noted Swift was busy with her record-breaking tour during the relevant period.
