The trial of Sean "Diddy" Combs is set to begin in New York, with jury selection starting on Monday at the Daniel Patrick Moynihan courthouse in lower Manhattan. US District Judge Arun Subramanian will preside over the proceedings. Prosecutors expect to present their case over three weeks, followed by a week for the defense. Diddy faces serious federal criminal charges, including racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex trafficking, and two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The racketeering charge carries a potential life sentence if convicted. The sex trafficking charges have a statutory minimum sentence of 15 years. The allegations against Diddy are wide-ranging, with prosecutors claiming he was involved in a network that kidnapped, drugged, and coerced women into sexual activities. Authorities reportedly found drugs and supplies allegedly used for parties known as "freak offs" during a raid on his Los Angeles mansion. Diddy is also facing dozens of civil lawsuits accusing him of sexual assault, rape, and intimidation, claims he denies. Diddy has been held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn since his arrest in September 2024. His lawyers argued for his release due to poor prison conditions, but bail was denied. The judge described him as a "serious flight risk." The trial is expected to last several weeks and will not be streamed online.
