Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar used his acceptance speech at the Lincoln Center's Chaplin Award ceremony to deliver a scathing critique of Donald Trump.
Almodóvar expressed his reservations about visiting a country led by what he described as a "narcissistic authoritarian leader" who disregards human rights.
He condemned Trump's policies, particularly his stance on immigration, transgender rights, and his perceived denial of Russian aggression in Ukraine.
The director directly addressed Trump, predicting he would be remembered as a significant mistake and a catastrophe for humanity.
Almodóvar dedicated his award to those recently deported, transgender actress Hunter Schafer, and Harvard University for resisting Trump's policies.
He also expressed concern about the recent power outage affecting Spain, Portugal, and parts of France.
