Sebastian Stan revealed that residuals from the 2010 comedy 'Hot Tub Time Machine' saved his career before his Marvel fame. In a recent interview, the actor, known for his role as Bucky Barnes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shared how he was struggling financially before landing the 'Captain America: The First Avenger' role.
Stan explained that he received $65,000 in residuals from 'Hot Tub Time Machine,' which prevented him from going bankrupt. He played the character Blaine in the film, one of his early movie roles after appearances in 'Rachel Getting Married' and 'Gossip Girl'.
A year after 'Hot Tub Time Machine,' Stan debuted as Bucky Barnes, catapulting him to global fame. He has since played the character in numerous Marvel films and TV shows. Stan joked that during a screening of 'Avengers: Endgame,' he was the only one excited when Paul Rudd's Ant-Man referenced 'Hot Tub Time Machine'.
