In Menteng, Indonesia, a fine dining Indonesian restaurant has opened with a special concept. The restaurant is located in a historic building dating back to 1925, offering a taste of culinary heritage from the past 100 years.
Bunga Rampai, located on Jalan Teuku Cik Ditiro Number 35, Menteng, is easily recognizable by its colonial architecture. The design reflects the Indische style, popular during the colonial era, featuring large windows, sturdy wooden doors, and decorative details.
The building is a cultural heritage site that holds significant historical value. It was once the home of Prof. Raden Soenario, the first dentist in Indonesia. On June 11, 2025, the owner, Mulia Denny, held an event called 'Warisan Rasa, Jejak Waktu, Kreasi Masa Depan' to celebrate the building's 100th anniversary.
The restaurant, Bunga Rampai, was established in 2007. It has served as a gathering place for world leaders and important figures. The anniversary celebration featured a variety of dishes spanning 100 years.
From 1925-1950, the menu included Erwtensoep, a thick soup made from peas, celery, scallions, carrots, and meat. The main course was Sekubal from Lampung, similar to lontong, served with rendang.
From 1950-1975, guests could enjoy Lumpia Semarang as an appetizer and Nasi Kuning with various side dishes. The dessert was Es Kepal Sirup. The menu from 1975-2000 featured mushroom cream soup, nasi goreng kambing, and kue pancong.
For the 2000-2025 period, Bunga Rampai offers Asinan Betawi as an appetizer, Papeda from Papua and Maluku as the main course, and Es Air Mata Pengantin from Riau. These dishes represent a culinary heritage that continues to thrive.
The 'Warisan Rasa, Jejak Waktu, Kreasi Masa Depan' event also included a collaborative fashion show from Batik 3E Collection by Emil Eriyanto, who has a long history with the Bunga Rampai building.
