European Science Alliance for Agriculture and Food (ESAAF) Launched in 2025 to Bolster EU Agri-Food Sector

Edited by: Olga N

The European Science Alliance for Agriculture and Food (ESAAF) was launched in May 2025 by five leading European institutions specializing in agriculture, food, and life sciences. This alliance aims to support the transformation, sustainability, and resilience of the European Union's agri-food sector. ESAAF will provide scientific insights into key policy challenges facing EU decision-makers.

ESAAF will act as a central platform providing independent, evidence-based input in food system policy. This will help ensure that future strategies are grounded in sound science. The alliance seeks to strengthen the link between research and policy to benefit Europe.

ESAAF aims to serve as a European representative body for agricultural and food research. It will offer independent, high-level scientific advice to support the European Commission and the European Board for Agriculture and Food (EBAF). The alliance welcomes contributions from academically recognized organizations across Europe working in agriculture and food.
