Slovenian Filmmakers Shine At Karlovy Vary Film Festival

Slovenian director Jan Krevatin has been selected for the Future Frames: Generation Next program at the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF), scheduled for July 4-12, 2025, in the Czech Republic.

Krevatin, born in Ljubljana in 1999, is pursuing a master's degree in film and television directing at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. His short films, including "JOŽA" (2023) and "The Last Day of Spring" (2023), have been showcased at international festivals, earning him the "Jelena Rajković" award for best director under 30 at the 32nd Days of Croatian Film.

The Future Frames program, organized by European Film Promotion (EFP) in collaboration with KVIFF, highlights emerging European directors. Alongside Krevatin, Žiga Virc will present his project "Purgatory" at the festival's new Central Stage section, dedicated to established filmmakers. This participation underscores the growing presence of Slovenian cinema on the international stage.

The 59th Karlovy Vary Film Festival will feature numerous films from Central and Eastern Europe, including works by renowned directors. The involvement of Slovenian filmmakers at this prestigious festival highlights the growth and development of Slovenian cinema and its presence on the international film scene.
