Fantasy fans are buzzing as Russell Crowe has been confirmed to join the cast of the highly anticipated "Highlander" reboot. The Oscar winner will take on the role of the wise mentor Juan Sánchez Villa-Lobos Ramírez, originally played by Sean Connery in the 1986 film.
Crowe will star alongside Henry Cavill, who will play the immortal warrior Connor MacLeod. Cavill, known for "The Witcher," was previously confirmed for the lead role. The reboot is directed by Chad Stahelski, known for the "John Wick" series.
Stahelski plans to update the setting from the 16th-century Scottish Highlands to modern times, with locations in New York and Hong Kong. Filming is scheduled to begin in London in September 2025, with a theatrical release planned for 2027 or 2028. This fresh take on the classic saga promises a new perspective and contemporary elements.
