The Dominican Republic is making a significant impact on the global film industry at the Marché du Film during the Cannes Film Festival 2025. From May 13-21, five Dominican producers are participating in the Producers Network, a platform designed for international networking. This initiative is supported by the General Directorate of Cinema (DGCINE) to foster the internationalization of Dominican film projects.

The film 'El Silencio de Marcos Tremmer,' a co-production between the Dominican Republic, Spain, and Uruguay, is featured as a case study in the Producers Network. Wendy Espinal is participating in Cannes Docs with 'Anna Borges do Sacramento,' a co-production between Brazil, Spain, and the Dominican Republic. Gabriela Ortega is joining the New Producers Room with her production company, Jevita Films, focusing on short films, and Daniela Cortés is presenting her short film 'Mi Niña'.
Dominican Delegation and Industry Support
Marianna Vargas Gurillieva from DGCINE is leading the Dominican delegation, operating from the official Dominican Republic stand. Iris Peynado is speaking at AfroCannes, offering a Caribbean perspective on representation in the film industry. Forteza and Barceló Imperial are supporting this participation, aiming to position the Dominican Republic as a hub for talent and creativity in the global film industry.
