Carey Mulligan is in talks to join the cast of Greta Gerwig's adaptation of C.S. Lewis's "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Magician's Nephew" for Netflix. Mulligan is expected to play Digory's ill mother.
Gerwig, known for "Barbie," is directing "The Magician's Nephew," a prequel to "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." The story explores the creation of Narnia and the Wood between the Worlds.
The film is slated for an IMAX release around Thanksgiving 2026, followed by its Netflix debut around Christmas. Emma Mackey has been cast as Jadis, the White Witch, Daniel Craig is rumored to be playing Uncle Andrew, and Meryl Streep is rumored to voice Aslan. Filming is set to begin in July 2025 at Shepperton Studios in England.
