Gollum is officially returning to the big screen! Warner Bros. has announced that "The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum," starring Andy Serkis, will premiere on December 17, 2027. Serkis will not only star in the film but also direct it.
The film is set between Bilbo's birthday party and the Mines of Moria, offering an untold story from Gollum's perspective. Original "Lord of the Rings" trilogy filmmaker Peter Jackson and his partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are producing the new movie. They "will be involved every step of the way."
This will be the first live-action "Rings" movie since 2014's "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies." The return to Middle-earth is highly anticipated, with potential appearances from original cast members like Ian McKellen and Orlando Bloom. The film promises an intense story and a fresh perspective on a beloved character.
