Indonesia's film industry is set to receive a significant boost with a Rp5 trillion investment in 2025 through a strategic partnership between United Media Asia (UMA) and Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno. This investment aims to strengthen the creative economy, specifically the film subsector. The collaboration seeks to improve the quality of local film production and enhance the industry's human resource capabilities.

Sandiaga Uno highlighted commitments from both foreign and domestic investors, ranging from $200-250 million, with expectations to reach $300 million. These funds will support the development of domestic films, aiming to maintain a 65% share for local films in theaters. The initiative also intends to attract foreign film productions to Indonesia, showcasing cultural locations such as Bali and Lombok.

UMA's Chief Commercial Officer, Anka Zumi, emphasized that the investment will enhance education, infrastructure, and creative workforce development. State-owned enterprises like PFN and Danantara will also be involved in the allocation of these funds, with further details to be announced after May 20, 2025. This initiative aims to position Indonesia as a global hub for cultural innovation and the creative economy, focusing on local content production, talent development, and technological advancement.
