Kristen Stewart's directorial debut, The Chronology of Water, has been selected for the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. The film will be showcased in the Un Certain Regard section, the festival's second most prestigious category.

Stewart has been publicly discussing this passion project since 2018. The film, based on Lidia Yuknavitch's memoir of the same name, is co-written by Stewart and Andy Mingo. The movie delves into themes of trauma, self-discovery, and the power of storytelling, set against the backdrop of the Pacific Northwest.

Imogen Poots stars as Lidia Yuknavitch, with a supporting cast including Thora Birch, Earl Cave, Michael Epp, Susannah Flood, Kim Gordon, and Jim Belushi. The film's selection marks a significant moment for Stewart as she transitions into directing, with the movie premiering in May 2025.
