The silent film classic "The Phantom of the Opera" (1925) will be presented as a film concert at the Filmkunstfest Mecklenburg-Vorpommern on May 10 and 11, 2025. The Mecklenburg State Theater and the Filmkunstfest MV are collaborating to stage this event.

The first film concert will take place on May 10, 2025, at the Mecklenburg State Theater in Schwerin, coinciding with the festival's award ceremony. A second performance is scheduled for May 11. Conductor Martin Schelhaas will lead the Mecklenburg State Chapel in a live accompaniment to the film.

The score, composed by Roy Budd, incorporates musical quotations and enhances the film's emotional depth. Schelhaas notes the concert's dramatic opening and closing organ passages, emphasizing the challenge of synchronizing the orchestra with the film. He also highlights the audience's enjoyment of this unique artistic combination and advises against bringing young children due to the intensity of the performance.
