The Hot Docs Canadian Documentary Festival will open its 2025 edition on April 24 with the world premiere of 'Parade: Queer Acts of Love & Resistance.' Directed by Noam Gonick and produced by the National Film Board of Canada, the film explores the history of Canada's 2SLGBTQ+ movement. The festival will showcase 113 documentaries from 47 countries, including 26 Canadian features. Other notable films include 'The Nest,' 'Come See Me in the Good Light,' and 'Deaf President Now!'. The festival faced recent challenges, including financial restructuring and leadership changes, but veteran film programmer Diana Sanchez has been appointed as the new executive director. Hot Docs will run from April 24 to May 4 in Toronto.
